My sense of perception has been strongly influenced by the forms and
colours of Africa. Having lived on the African continent for over 30
years, I feel a strong affinity for its vistas, and the richness of its human
diversity. This is most obviously expressed in the fabrics and other
materials I use, and it also infuses my sense of beauty and proportion.
My art practice is all about learning. It is a way for me to explore and
express ideas about growth. Nothing thrills me more than witnessing,
and contributing to growth, be it individual wellbeing and spiritual
growth, or the broader development of ever advancing communities.
On a practical level, art opens a space for experimentation and
reflection, and trains my eye to see in new ways.
