About

Growing up on a farm in the Ottawa valley connected me with the natural environment, which has been a constant source of joy and inspiration. I practiced drawing and ceramics through my early years until graduating from Laval University in 1981. That same year my husband and I moved to Africa where we lived, worked and raised three sons until returning to Canada in 2017 to settle on Vancouver Island.

As a teacher, the methods and materials of various art forms have been key elements of my tool kit when working with youth and children in both formal and informal educational settings. Time and again I have observed the depth of learning that occurs when art forms an integral part of the educative process.

Living and traveling in various countries opened the door to more varied artistic expressions. Various courses and workshops on both the North American and African continents have helped develop my skills, techniques and the range of materials that I use. Most important of all, having spent my most active and productive adult years in Africa has enabled me to imagine an integrated life where community, art, family, work and physical and spiritual health are all entwined and mutually reinforcing.

Since moving to Vancouver Island my more recent work has been part of several exhibitions. The positive reaction from the general public shows that the artistic expression of humanity’s spiritual and social journey resonates across cultures.
